Wyoming County Community Fund Scholarship 20-21 Awarded to Erin Harrison
We are pleased to announce that the Wyoming County Community Fund Scholarship for the 2020-2021 year has been awarded to Erin Harrison. Erin is a 2020 graduate of Westside High School. The scholarship was awarded back in the spring, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic we have been unable to present Erin with a certificate.
Erin’s mother recently passed away very unexpectedly before the start of the school year, and her grandfather has spoken highly of how she has handled the loss of her mother, the pandemic, and the transition to college. Erin is continuing her education at Southern WV Community and Technical College where she’s studying respiratory therapy. We are proud of Erin’s resilience and wish her well in her future endeavors!
We are proud of all of our award recipients over the last 10 years. The award started out at $250 and thanks to contributions from the community and those that participate in our annual fundraisers, we have been able to increase that to an annual award of $2,500. This year, we had to cancel our event due to COVID. We are hopeful to come up with an alternate way to raise money for the scholarship fund, but in the meantime if you would like to donate, donations can be made to the Wyoming County Community Fund through the Beckley Area Foundation. For additional information, you can contact the Wyoming County EDA at 304-732-6707 or [email protected].
