Each year, the Wyoming County Community Fund gives back to our residents in the form of a scholarship for those wishing to continue their education. The Wyoming County Community Fund Scholarship is awarded to one Wyoming County resident each spring. The $2,500 award helps cover expenses that come with furthering their education – textbooks, supplies, and more.
This year’s awardee is Makenzie Justice, a graduating senior at Wyoming East High School. Makenzie will be attending Southern Community and Technical College in the fall. She plans to study Business along with receiving a certificate in Allied Health. “Once finishing the program, I plan to work my way to the top of Healthcare Management,” Makenzie says.
For many students, scholarships determine whether or not they’ll be able to afford to further their education. “I received this scholarship at my senior awards, and I had no clue I was receiving it, which was a great blessing and surprise!” Makenzie says. “Receiving this scholarship lifted a huge weight off my shoulders to where I did not have to worry as much about how I would pay for it. This money will allow me to pay for the books I need throughout attending Southern.”
Makenzie would like to express her gratitude for being chosen as this year’s scholarship recipient. “I would like to thank the Wyoming County Community Fund for this amazing blessing and opportunity! It is very much appreciated, and I hope to please you all with how I put this towards my future education!”
