Annual Wyoming County Community Grant Program: Empowering Local Change

The Beckley Area Foundation, Inc. is thrilled to announce the launch of the annual Wyoming County Community Grant Program for the 2024-2025 cycle. This grant program is dedicated to supporting charitable initiatives across Wyoming County in the areas of arts, education, civic beautification, public recreation, health, and human services.

Key Details to Know:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Who Can Apply? Non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status, public institutions, schools, or municipalities. A valid IRS determination letter is required to verify 501(c)(3) status.
  • Geographic Focus: Projects must be located in Wyoming County, although the applicant organization can be based elsewhere.
  • Funding Period: Grants must support projects occurring between November 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

Funding Limits:

  • Maximum Request: Up to $3,000.
  • Additional Funding: Projects showing other sources of funding are favored. Multi-year requests are not accepted.

Application Process:

  • Deadline: All applications must be postmarked by October 1, 2024. Late submissions will not be considered.
  • Submission Methods: Applications can be hand-delivered, faxed, or emailed. For guidance, contact the Wyoming County Community Fund before starting the application.

Review Process:

  1. Internal Review: Ensure all contact information is accurate and respond promptly to any follow-up requests from the Community Fund.
  2. Committee Review: Applications are reviewed by a committee in October, with potential site visits for further insights.
  3. Board Review: Final recommendations are reviewed by the Planning Commission Board of Directors on October 23, 2024. Successful applicants will be notified in writing.

Award Procedure:

  • Payment: Grant payments are processed upon receipt of payment requests and related invoices. Allow at least two weeks for processing.
  • Final Report: Grantees must submit a final report and may be asked for photos suitable for publication. Failure to submit this report may affect future eligibility.

Priority Considerations:

  • Addressing significant community needs or implementing creative solutions.
  • Serving a large number of residents or underserved groups.
  • Capital projects or equipment needs.
  • Encouraging collaboration and leveraging additional funding.
  • Addressing sudden or urgent needs that could not have been anticipated.

Exclusions:

  • Projects outside the specified grant period.
  • Political, lobbying, sectarian, or annual campaign purposes.
  • Endowments and ongoing maintenance costs.
