Two major industrial development projects are underway in Wyoming County, West Virginia, promising to bring new jobs, attract private investment, and support long-term economic growth in southern West Virginia. The Barkers Creek Industrial Park and the Rockefeller Industrial Park Expansion are backed by federal, state, and local funding and are poised to revitalize the region’s economy.

Barkers Creek Industrial Park: A Hub for Advanced Manufacturing

Located on a 10.85-acre site near Tralee, WV, the Barkers Creek Industrial Park is being developed to support large-scale industrial tenants like AmeriCarbon Enterprises, a company that plans to build the first coal-to-carbon manufacturing facility in the United States.

What’s Planned:
  • Construction of two industrial shell buildings and a two-story office/laboratory
  • Site improvements: grading, roads, utilities, stormwater systems, fire protection, and heavy-duty industrial cranes
  • A new two-way freight access bridge across Barkers Creek
  • Installation of a 10.5 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) power supply
Funding:
  • $3,900,000 – U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA)
  • $675,000 – West Virginia Governor’s Closing Fund
  • $200,000 – Wyoming County Commission
  • $100,000 – Wyoming County EDA
  • $850,000 – HUD Economic Development Initiative (EDI) Grant (Bridge)
  • $835,000 – HUD EDI Grant (Power Infrastructure)*
    *Note: A scope change is being considered to reallocate power funding toward bridge upgrades.
Timeline:
  • Construction Start: August 2025
  • Substantial Completion: June 2026
  • Project Closeout: December 2026
  • Final Reporting: January 2027

Rockefeller Industrial Park Expansion: Supporting Local Industry

The Rockefeller Industrial Park is expanding to welcome Oceanetics, Inc., a company specializing in high-load manufacturing and engineering solutions. The new facility will strengthen the region’s industrial foundation and support skilled employment.

What’s Planned:
  • Construction of a 15,000 square foot pre-engineered metal building
  • Two 15-ton cranes for manufacturing needs
  • Site development and utilities to support operations
Funding:
  • $3,801,600 – U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA)
  • $600,000 – WV Governor’s Closing Fund
  • $200,000 – Wyoming County Commission (Coal Reallocation Grant)
  • $150,400 – Wyoming County EDA
Timeline:
  • Design Completion: September 2025
  • Bid Opening: November 2025
  • Construction Start: January 2026
  • Substantial Completion: January 2027
  • Project Closeout: May 2027
