Now Recruiting: AmeriCorps VISTA Community Development Coordinator

The Wyoming County Economic Development Authority is now recruiting for an AmeriCorps VISTA Community Development Coordinator through the Stewards Individual Placement Program and we’re looking for someone ready to make a real, lasting impact in our community.

Based in Pineville, West Virginia, this full-time, year-long service position runs May 4, 2026 through May 3, 2027. The role supports Wyoming County’s efforts to expand economic opportunity in a rural Appalachian community experiencing workforce disruption and job loss by strengthening workforce readiness, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development strategies.

Rather than direct service, VISTA members focus on building systems that create long-term change. This position will help refine community assessment tools, develop asset maps and workforce planning resources, and create internal systems that allow local programs and partnerships to grow long after the service year ends. It’s a great fit for recent graduates or anyone interested in economic development, public service, and community impact.

What to Expect

As the Community Development Coordinator, the selected VISTA member will:

  • Support community and workforce development initiatives
  • Develop assessment tools and planning resources
  • Strengthen organizational systems and partnerships
  • Gain hands-on experience in economic development and strategic planning

Benefits

AmeriCorps VISTA members receive:

  • A biweekly living allowance
  • Choice of an Education Award or end-of-service stipend
  • Training and professional development
  • Health coverage and additional support benefits
  • Relocation and childcare assistance for eligible members

How to Apply

Apply directly through the AmeriCorps portal:
https://my.americorps.gov/mp/listing/viewListing.do?fromSearch=true&id=128363

Applications are reviewed by Stewards and forwarded to Wyoming County EDA. Selected applicants will be contacted for interviews before a final member is chosen.

Timeline

To begin service on May 4, 2026, applications should be submitted as soon as possible. Early applicants are strongly encouraged.
